ABOUT

Director of Operations for Turcotte Development Program

Going into his 21st year of training hockey players from amateur to pro, Nick enjoys teaching beginners just as much as advanced players. His specialties include stickhandling, edge work, passing, shooting, and video review.

As a young player, Nick competed at the AAA and AA levels, playing for Lausanne Jr. Lions (Switzerland), Team Illinois, Glenview Stars, Chicago Chill, Chicago Blues, Cleveland Barons, and Northern Express. He went on to play four years of junior hockey with the MN Ice Hawks, NJ Renegades, and Chicago Hitmen, before playing collegiate hockey at Davenport University.

Nick has worked with several top-level programs, including the Plymouth Whalers (OHL), Chicago Cougars (Jr. A), NJ Renegades (Jr. A), Detroit Compuware (AAA), Chicago Young Americans (AAA), and Colorado Rampage (AAA).

Currently based in Kansas City, Missouri, Nick runs private and group lessons through the Turcotte Development Program. He also coaches for and serves as Player Development Director at the AdventHealth Sportspark Icehawks Hockey Association, where he leads additional group sessions.

A third-generation hockey coach, Nick is the oldest grandson of Real Turcotte (Founder of Turcotte Stickhandling School), the oldest son of Alfie Turcotte (Montreal Canadiens & Washington Capitals), and the brother of Alex Turcotte, who currently plays for the LA Kings. The Turcotte Stickhandling School has worked with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Carolina Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers, and Nashville Predators, helping over 3,000 players advance to NCAA Division III hockey or higher.

Nacho Stretch 2 on 1

Nacho Stretch 2 on 1

The nacho stretch 2 on 1 is a great drill to get your second person to the net when entering the zone. It also resembles a regroup from the defensemen while also teaching the centers to come low to support the breakout.

Minnesota Mile 3 on 3

This drill combines small-area game play with individual skating and puck skill development before transitioning into a 3-on-3 situation.

Gretzky 3 on 3 & Lindstrom D-D 3 on 3

Gretzky 3 on 3 & Lindstrom D-D 3 on 3

This drill encourages players to use their teammates and skill sets to create numerical advantages, turning 3-on-3 situations into 4-on-3 or 5-on-3 scenarios. Games are played to two goals.
